Permanent Lip Enhancement

Saturday, June 13th, 2009

Lip enhancement is usually performed with dermal fillers such as Juvederm.  While the results are excellent with a high rate of satisfaction, the product usually only lasts around 6 months.  The FDA has approved a new silicone lip implant produced by SurgiSil.  We have placed this new implant in two patients and the initial results have been excellent with natural results.  We will be adding information to our procedures page soon.  Call us for more information or visit SurgiSil’s webite at http://www.surgisil.com/us/index.html.

Treatment of Old Burn Scars with Lumenis Laser

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

I just watched a video from an episode of the Today Show about a set of triplets who were burned over 20 years ago in a house fire.  They were treated with the Lumenis CO2 laser that we use in our office.  While no treatment will completely remove the scars, there was significant improvement in the color and texture.  The video clip can be found at http://www.skinandhealth.com/content/burns.  This is an exciting use of this technology as old burns were not traditionally treatable without surgery.
